Code for America believes government can work for the people, by the people, in the new digital age, and that government at all levels can and should work well for all people. For more than a decade, we’ve worked to show that with the mindful use of technology, we can break down barriers, meet community needs, and find real solutions. Our employees build and transform government and community tools and services, making them so good they inspire change. We merge the best parts of technology, nonprofit, and government to help support the people who need it most. With a focus on transparency and fairness, and deep empathy for partners in government and community organizations and the people that our partners serve, we’re building a movement of motivated change agents driven by meaningful results and lasting impact. At Code for America, you contribute to exciting work while learning and developing in a supportive and flexible environment. Our compensation and benefits are holistic and thoughtfully curated to represent our employees and our mission. Help us drive real generational change that lasts. Code for America is looking for a talented Principal Software Engineer who will help define the technical standards and practices that our engineering discipline builds on — driving reliable, high-quality software delivery across multiple teams and projects that make public services more accessible and effective for the people who need them most. The pace of change in the policy and government landscape is accelerating at the same time that technology possibilities are shifting rapidly. Together, these shifts create new windows of opportunity to develop technical solutions that make critical public services more effective for the people who need them. Principal Software Engineers frame and solve the undefined technical problems that sit across or ahead of any single team's roadmap, so that the engineering discipline as a whole stays ready for those moments. About the role: All Code for America software engineers are involved in every stage of our products' lifecycle, from prototyping and design to developing features in response to user feedback, to operating technical systems at scale. Principal Software Engineers pair deep technical expertise with cross-team influence — setting technical direction and best practices across Engineering, resolving our most ambiguous and highest-leverage technical problems, and raising the bar for how the discipline builds software. This role will report to the Senior Director of Product Engineering and is expected to travel no more than 10% of the time. Code for America is based in California and can employ those who reside full-time within the United States. This is a remote position. In this position you will: Technical Delivery Craft new features that help users more easily navigate government services and receive a dignified experience, taking on the hardest and highest-leverage problems across your domain and modeling the standard other engineers build toward. Drive solutions to technical problems that are ambiguous or undefined, weighing tradeoffs across competing priorities at a discipline-wide scale. Own architecture and data-modeling decisions for systems that span multiple services or teams, weighing tradeoffs across competing priorities: speed vs. maintainability, the familiar tool vs. the right one, ideal vs. feasible. Work iteratively to prove out approaches, then engineer what works into durable, reusable capabilities (shared services, libraries, and AI-enabled components) that other teams build on. Support Engineering's culture of writing by producing documentation, technical decision records, and learning materials that engineers across multiple teams rely on. Technical Leadership & Mentorship Set and document technical direction for your domain, anticipating cross-team challenges before they become blockers and explaining the reasoning behind hard calls. Mentor Staff and Senior Software Engineers on technical judgment and engineering practice, and create conditions for them to grow into unfamiliar problem spaces. Partner with Engineering Managers, Directors, and cross-functional peers to translate technology, policy, and organizational trends into technical strategy. Set shared engineering standards and reference architectures for your domain, and drive their adoption through review, reference implementations, and example Share what works across projects back into engineering-wide practices, closing gaps between teams' approaches. Organizational Technical Strategy Partner with Engineering Managers, Directors, and cross-functional peers to translate technology, policy, and organizational trends into technical strategy. Explore emerging technologies and engineering approaches, from new frameworks and infrastructure to AI-enabled product capabilities, and recommend what to scale, adjust, or stop based on your evaluation Represent Engineering's technical perspective in cross-discipline planning and decision-making. Other duties as assigned About you: 10+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in system architecture, data modeling, web technologies, and API design. Demonstrated track record of defining technical standards or patterns that were adopted across multiple teams. Experience framing and solving ambiguous, previously undefined technical problems, and building solutions others can adopt. AI Deployment Specialist, Beneficial Deployments

Full-time Onsite · San Francisco, CA | New York City Comp TBD

We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role As a Deployment Manager on the Beneficial Deployments team, you will guide customers from a signed contract into a live, governed, and adopted deployment so that customers achieve tangible impact rather than simply incremental improvement with Claude. You'll guide organizations from contract signature to production deployment across Claude for Enterprise, Claude Code, and our API products, fundamentally changing how they work and deliver on their missions. You'll be the technical hands that switch Claude on. Before any organization can drive adoption, before any champion can ship their first workflow, someone has to connect Claude to the customer's identity provider, get the right people provisioned into the right workspaces, and walk their CISO through how it all comes together. That's your work. You turn "we've signed the contract" into "our employees can log in, with the right access, under the right policies, the way our security team expects." This is a high-leverage role where you'll pioneer scalable activation methodologies that enable hundreds of nonprofit customers to unlock transformative use cases and realize measurable outcomes at unprecedented speed. You won't just follow playbooks. You'll design the frameworks and repeatable processes that can be deployed consistently across diverse customer environments, and you'll shape them into programs that reach customers we could never serve one at a time. You'll operate at the intersection of technical deployment, enablement, and program design. Some days you'll be in the weeds with a customer's IT team debugging a SAML assertion; other days you'll be stepping back to ask how the last ten deployments should change the next hundred. Your systems-thinking approach will directly shape how we activate customers, and your strategic management will ensure every customer achieves meaningful outcomes within their first 90 days. By identifying patterns across activations, you'll build replicable approaches to organizational change while maintaining the agility to customize solutions for each customer's unique transformation journey. Responsibilities: Own the complete activation journey from contract signature to production deployment, orchestrating cross-functional resources and customer teams to ensure rapid time-to-value across Claude for Enterprise, Claude Code, and API products. Deploy Claude inside customer environments. Configure and troubleshoot SSO (SAML), SCIM and JIT provisioning, MCP connectors, admin policy templates, and seat-assignment logic across Okta, Entra ID, Ping, and Google Workspace. Deliver informative transitions to Support for deeper issues that require investigation or engineering support. Act as a trusted advisor to customer CISOs and CTOs on governance and enterprise setup. Bring a clear point of view on best practices, help security and IT leadership make the design decisions that determine whether a deployment holds up over time Light up the capabilities that make Claude valuable. Enable and govern MCP connectors to the customer's systems, ensure Skills, Projects, and other capabilities are turned on and configured for their use cases, and work with their IT team on the approvals and OAuth consent this requires, so that day one feels ready Design and scale activation frameworks by identifying patterns across deployments and building templated playbooks that balance standardization with customization for breakthrough outcomes. Turn playbooks into programs. Package what works into repeatable, increasingly self-serve motions (deployment checklists, admin enablement sessions, onboarding cohorts, Claude-powered guidance) so that activation quality no longer depends on you being in the room. Drive organizational transformation by developing change management strategies, rollout plans, and Train-the-Trainer programs that build internal AI champions and catalyze adoption across customer organizations. Define and track success metrics across activation rate, time-to-value, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency, using data to continuously optimize the motion. Channel customer insights back to Product, Support, and Security teams, serving as voice of the customer so that repeat deployment blockers get solved once. You may be a good fit if you have: 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles such as implementation management, technical account management, technical onboarding, solutions consulting, or customer success, with a track record of running multiple concurrent enterprise deployments with documented handoffs. Experience serving nonprofits or mission-driven organizations. You've worked with (or inside) them and you understand how they differ from commercial enterprises. Hands-on, sustained ownership of enterprise identity integration work. SAML, OIDC, SCIM v2, and JIT provisioning across at least two major identity providers (Okta, Entra ID, Ping, Google Workspace). You can debug a broken SAML assertion or a misconfigured SCIM attribute map without escalating, and you know when a Support handoff is the right call. Experience advising CISOs, CTOs, or IT leadership on enterprise governance and setup for a SaaS or AI platform, with an informed point of view on org topology, access models, RBAC, and OAuth. Working knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR) sufficient to anticipate what a customer's security review will ask, and to know when to bring in our AI Security Specialist. You've designed, shipped, and measured programs that serve many customers at once: onboarding cohorts, enablement series, admin academies, lifecycle or engagement motions. You naturally ask "how might we scale this?", turn 1:1 moments into 1:many programs, and instrument what you build so you know what's working. Hands-on fluency with AI in your own workflow. You've prototyped, generated content, analyzed accounts, or replaced internal processes with LLMs, and you can talk concretely about what worked, what didn't, and what's next. You don't wait for AI tooling to arrive; you build it. Organizational change and enablement experience including developing rollout strategies, navigating stakeholder resistance, building internal champions, and designing programs that drive adoption at scale. Comfort building in ambiguity. This is a new role on the team, and what you build becomes the template. You'll thrive creating structure where none exists, adapting quickly as the business evolves, and learning continuously. Data-driven and metrics-oriented. Experience setting and tracking success metrics from day one, using data to optimize approaches, and demonstrating impact to diverse stakeholders. Logistics Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to

Staff Software Engineer

Full-time Remote Comp TBD

Code for America is looking for a talented Staff Software Engineer who will help shape the technical direction of an engineering team that is contributing to high-impact government services. In this role you will drive reliable, high-quality software delivery — improving how the team builds, tests, and ships the systems that make public services more accessible and effective for the people who need them most. The pace of change in the policy and government landscape is accelerating at the same time that technology possibilities are shifting rapidly. Together, these shifts create new windows of opportunity to develop technical solutions that make critical public services more effective for the people who need them. Staff software engineers keep delivery moving through those moments, supporting staff and holding high delivery standards so that what we ship stays reliable and effective. About the role: All Code for America software engineers are involved in every stage of our products' lifecycle, from prototyping and design to developing features in response to user feedback, to operating technical systems at scale. Staff Software Engineers pair hands-on engineering with leadership — guiding their team’s technical direction, demonstrating sound judgment, and enabling their fellow engineers through collaboration and mentorship. Staff Software Engineers strengthen their team's delivery practices and help other engineers on their team grow, setting a standard for technical judgment and collaboration within their project. This role will report to the Engineering Manager and is expected to travel no more than 10% of the time. Code for America is based in California and can employ those who reside full-time within the United States. This is a remote position. In this position you will: Technical Delivery Craft new features that help users more easily navigate government services and receive a dignified experience. Write automated tests and develop monitoring strategies to ensure a high level of service quality. Work iteratively to ship minimal features, learn, and harden them to scale once proven Contribute to design, implementation, and code review, and make technical trade-offs alongside your team, responsibly using AI-assisted development. Own architecture and data-modeling decisions for significant parts of a production system, weighing tradeoffs across competing priorities — speed vs. maintainability, the familiar tool vs. the right one, ideal vs. feasible. Support Engineering's culture of writing by producing quality documentation and learning materials for internal and external audiences. Technical Leadership & Enablement Establish direction for technical work within your team or project, anticipating challenges, documenting decisions, and helping the team understand the why behind approaches, not just the what . Collaborate with Product Managers and other cross-functional peers and adapt your approach as priorities, technology, and team needs shift — and actively help others do the same when facing major changes in direction or tooling. Biasing to action when the team is stuck, committing to a path forward and revising as new information emerges. Mentor engineers on sound technical judgment and engineering practice, and create conditions for them to grow into unfamiliar problem spaces through pairing, documentation, structured learning, or direct coaching. Act as connective tissue within your team—guide team norms, surface dependencies early, align on shared patterns, and bring in practices that have worked well elsewhere to strengthen how your team delivers Other duties as assigned About you: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in system architecture, data modeling, web technologies, and API design. Experience working across multiple languages, frameworks, and tech stacks — or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into unfamiliar ones. Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools judiciously, validating and refining generated code for quality, and modeling that discipline for teammates is needed for this specific role; organizationally, a curiosity about emerging AI tools and a commitment to using them responsibly and effectively Experience with Agile Software Development models like Scrum, XP, TDD, or BDD Demonstrated technical leadership in a team environment: setting direction and guiding sound decision-making in constrained or ambiguous contexts</spa

We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About Beneficial Deployments Beneficial Deployments ensures AI reaches and benefits the communities that need it most. We partner with nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations to deploy Claude in education, global health, economic mobility, and life sciences, focusing on raising the floor. About the Role We're looking for an Applied AI Architect to join Beneficial Deployments, focused on maximizing the impact of Claude in the life sciences. Our goal is ambitious: accelerate scientific progress from R&D through translation by an order of magnitude. That means making Claude the go-to tool for the life sciences ecosystem, from early discovery in academia to paradigm-shifting biotech to reimagining pharma pipelines. This role combines technical expertise with deep relationship-building. You'll be the primary technical advisor for our life sciences partners, including flagship research institutions like The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and The Allen Institute. You'll drive engagements from discovery through deployment, working closely with the life sciences segment lead and Applied AI Engineers to deliver impact. This role will be part of the founding Beneficial Deployments Applied AI team focused on bringing life sciences closer to the frontier. Spot patterns across partners to inform what we build at the ecosystem level, including MCP servers for domain-specific data sources, scientifically grounded benchmarks and evals, and reusable agent skills. Create technical presentations, demos, and scalable content (documentation, tutorials, sample code) so what works for one institution can scale globally without the same level of hand-holding. Travel occasionally to partner sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building. Help shape team processes and culture as we scale from 1 to N. You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have 8+ years in a technical role, ideally with customer-facing exposure (Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Product Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer) Experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing. Bonus if you've worked in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery specifically and are comfortable getting deeply technical with academics. Experience working in or building trust with academic research institutions, biotech, pharma, or other mission-driven scientific organizations, and an understanding of their unique challenges and constraints Familiarity with common LLM implementation patterns, including prompt and context engineering, evaluation frameworks, agent architectures, and retrieval frameworks A love of teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed A scrappy mentality: comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and doing whatever it takes to further the mission The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: £165,000 — £190,000 GBP Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. Lead Developer — Rebuild, Modernize, & Scale (Social Good SaaS, Remote)

Full-time Remote Comp TBD

We are looking for a lead developer to do a greenfield rebuild of our legacy SaaS app, modernize our mobile apps, and lead the tech effort to scale our app. You will help choose the language, build the technical foundation, work with our product manager to rebuild the app, and migrate all customers over. About Track it Forward Track it Forward is the leading volunteer time-tracking application for nonprofits and schools. For 15 years, we’ve helped thousands of organizations mobilize volunteers and track over 30 million hours. We are a profitable, bootstrapped team of 4 focused on great work-life balance, high-impact work, and a fun, puzzle-loving culture (daily crosswords, monthly virtual escape rooms, and annual retreats). We are not a VC-funded startup. We grew organically, stayed profitable, and prioritize high-quality work and personal fulfillment without growth-at-all-costs pressure. The team is led by the original founder and developer. The Modernization Strategy This is a structured, phased "small bang" migration—not a high-risk cutover or a strangler-fig migration. You will build a parallel greenfield system, extract legacy components step-by-step, and migrate customers over incrementally tenant-by-tenant while keeping operations running smoothly. Current Tech : Drupal 6 architecture hosted on Pantheon, paired with two Ionic/Capacitor mobile apps. Your Scope: Complete ownership of the technical architecture. You will partner with our product manager, establish engineering processes, and lead the rebuild from scratch. Modern AI practices : We want you to be on the cusp of AI workflows while also balancing human guardrails to produce quality code. Team Structure: You will be our sole developer in the short term, taking full technical helm as we scale. Target Stack & Responsibilities Core Tech Stack: Core backend/frontend rebuild focused on Python/Django, Laravel, or React. You will make the final architectural call with input from the CEO/founder. Database & Storage Extraction: Deconstruct our legacy Drupal 6 / MySQL schema into a clean, domain-driven PostgreSQL database, and offload 100GB+ of media files to AWS S3 or Cloudflare R2. Security & Isolation : Implement application-layer field-level encryption (AES-256 for PII, Bcrypt/Argon2id for passwords) and build zero-trust dev environments so contractors never handle production user data. CI/CD & Documentation: Establish automated testing pipelines, clean API contracts, and clear runbooks so the codebase remains maintainable long-term. Mobile App Maintenance: Maintain and update our two Ionic/Capacitor mobile apps using AI coding tools. Data Analyst, Internal Audit

Full-time Remote Comp TBD

GiveDirectly has delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty across 15 countries since 2011. We believe cash transfers are one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid, with the research to back it up. Our work has been covered by The Economist , NPR , TED , and The Washington Post . We are one of Time100’s Most Influential Companies of 2026. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We support high ownership and real professional growth. Curious about what it's really like to work here? Read our values and hear from the people who do . If they resonate, this could be a great fit! Location: Remote, with a requirement to overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours. We can only employ people in certain places at the moment, so it's worth checking our current list of eligible countries to see if yours is included. If you're based elsewhere, it's not an automatic no, but do flag it early with your recruiter. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas in the U.S. or U.K. at this time. About this role GD moves cash directly into the hands of people living in poverty, often in contexts with limited infrastructure and oversight. Protecting that cash from fraud — whether attempted by external bad actors, field staff, or recipients — is core to our mission and to donor trust. Internal Audit is GD's second line of defense against fraud, and this role sits at the center of it. We're looking for a Data Analyst who can turn raw operational, payments, and enrollment data into a clear picture of where fraud risk is emerging across our programs, translate those patterns into recommendations that change how projects are designed, and partner with our Product team to build the tools that help us catch fraud earlier and more reliably. You'll move fluidly between deep analysis, clear storytelling to stakeholders who aren't data specialists, and hands-on collaboration with engineers and product managers. This role sits within Internal Audit but has a dotted reporting line to the Director of Data in order to ensure we meet the organisational technical quality bar and standardise analytical and engineering practises and ways of working across the organisation. Internal Audit owns fraud-risk questions, indicator definitions, investigative analysis, and interpretation, while the central Data team owns shared data infrastructure, production pipelines, governed data models, and platform standards. The analyst bridges the two: contributing domain requirements, validation, and quality assurance, and ensuring this work aligns with organization-wide analytical and engineering practices. You are as comfortable in a spreadsheet or SQL console as you are in a room with country program leads explaining why a trend matters and what to do about it. You default to evidence over instinct, but you know that a good insight is only useful if someone acts on it. What you'll do Analyze fraud risk trends: Mine enrollment, payment, survey, and field-operations data to identify patterns, anomalies, and emerging fraud typologies (e.g., duplicate enrollments, collusion, identity fraud, diversion of funds) across GD's programs and geographies. Design and oversee fraud-risk indicators: Build, validate, and maintain recurring monitoring in partnership with central data and operational control owners. Identify data quality issues in data currently collected by Internal Audit, and help design and implement process improvements to resolve them. Embed data-driven thinking into IA design: Identify fraud-related decisions where GiveDirectly should be more data-driven, and incorporate this into Internal Audit process design. Translate findings into action: Package analysis into clear, credible briefs and presentations for country teams, operations leadership, and senior management, with concrete recommendations for reducing fraud risk. Support fraud investigations: Provide data pulls, quantify exposure, and help reconstruct events for specific cases — ensuring analysis is reproducible and audit-ready, with documented queries, data lineage, assumptions, exclusions, and QA checks. Partner with Product and Central Data on fraud-detection tooling: Translate validated risk signals into product requirements, contribute domain expertise and acceptance criteria, and test whether controls operate as intended — while maintaining clear ownership and independence boundaries. Partner with Data Engineering on upstream data quality and pipeline improvements, while owning the downstream analytical layer. Strengthen methodology over time: Back-test risk indicators against investigated cases, monitor precision, coverage, and false-positive rates, and refine based on outcomes and emerging risks. Communicate uncertainty honestly: Distinguish confirmed fraud from suspicious-but-unconfirmed patterns, helping stakeholders make decisions without overstating findings. What you'll bring 4+ years of experience in data analysis, audit, risk, or a related analytical role; experience in internal audit, fraud/forensics, or a nonprofit/development context is a plus but not required. Strong SQL skills and comfort working directly in large, sometimes messy operational datasets (Salesforce data, payments data, survey data). Experience using Python for reproducible analysis, automation, record linkage, anomaly investigation, or data-quality testing is strongly preferred. Familiarity with analytical notebooks, version control, and documenting analysis so it can be reviewed and reproduced by others is a plus. Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and/or Python/R for analysis. Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous, exploratory analysis into a clear, defensible narrative for non-technical stakeholders. Experience or strong interest in working cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to translate analytical needs into product requirements. Sound judgment on evidence quality: knowing the difference between a real signal and noise, and communicating that distinction tran

Merit America

Director of Development - Meritus College

Full-time Remote Comp TBD

The Organization: Merit America The American economy is broken. Today, 53 million working adults–nearly half of the U.S. workforce–do not earn a living wage. These talented workers have few options to advance: college is too long and expensive, full-time boot camp programs don’t offer enough flexibility, and online courses don’t have the structure or support to translate learning into a new career. The result? Talented workers, disproportionately people of color and women, get stuck in low-wage roles with no way to build a better life for themselves and their families. Merit America is a national nonprofit that creates pathways to family-sustaining careers for Americans stuck in low-wage work. Our fast, flexible solutions are built for working adults: We start by analyzing tens of millions of job postings to identify in-demand, high-paying tech careers and then work with industry-recognized partners to train for these roles with part-time programs that combine flexible online learning with best-in-class coaching. Finally, we support our learners in their job search, helping them connect with a broad constellation of local and national employers such as JPMorgan Chase and Infosys to land higher-earning, family-sustaining jobs. Merit America is on a mission to build a scalable pathway for workers to join the middle class through merit, not money. Since our founding in 2018, we’ve generated a projected $1 billion in near-term wage gains for our learners. The Organization: Meritus College Meritus College is a new kind of not-for-profit online college, built from the ground up to meet the needs of working adults and career-changers who’ve been overlooked by traditional higher education. The problem is clear: only 33% of Pell grant recipients complete their degrees at two-year colleges within 6 years. College has become too rigid, too expensive, and too disconnected from both student realities and career outcomes. Merit College is different. Our online, asynchronous programs and "workplace as laboratory" approach allow students to learn and apply new skills directly to their jobs, while receiving personalized support from dedicated coaches every step of the way. We focus on real-world skills and stackable credentials in high-demand fields, ensuring graduates are prepared for today's jobs and tomorrow's opportunities. Founded in 2025 with an inaugural Associate of Applied Science in Technology and Innovation degree, Merit College is building a mainstream pathway to economic mobility—one designed not for the privileged few, but for the talented many who’ve too often been left behind. About the Role Meritus College doesn't have a century of alumni wealth to call on. What it has is a bold, evidence-backed model, a founding team with credibility in both higher ed and philanthropy, and an open field for building a modern fundraising function that looks more like an early-stage nonprofit startup than a traditional university advancement office. We're looking for a Director of Development to join this founding team and help build that function. This is a hybrid role: part traditional higher-ed philanthropy (institutional funders and individual donors who care about post-secondary access and attainment), part startup-style fundraising (moving fast, building processes as you go, wearing multiple hats, working with founders, and engaging funders in the mission first - not the endowment). A successful candidate will: Manage and expand a portfolio of mission-aligned 6- and 7-figure foundation, corporate, and individual funders who care about economic mobility and the future of higher education. Translate Meritus College's early outcomes data and founding story (which includes Merit America’s success to date) into compelling, fundable narratives. Move comfortably between the discipline of traditional higher-ed philanthropy (stewardship, reporting, gift agreements) and the speed and resourcefulness of an early-stage startup. Lead the fundraising strategy to launch Meritus College. Beyond direct portfolio management, this work will include shaping and building new fundraising initiatives and ways of working that meet the needs of a new, innovative higher education model. This role reports to the Managing Director of Development and works closely with Merit America's broader Development Team and Meritus College's academic and operating leadership. What You'll Be Doing The primary responsibilities of the Director of Development will include, but are not limited to, the following: Build and Advance the Pipeline (50%) Identify, research, and cultivate new funding relationships across foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors who care about higher-ed innovation and economic mobility, bearing in mind that Meritus College does not have an alumni base to draw from. Lead proposal development with support from Merit America’s Development team, adapting fundraising narratives as Meritus College's model, outcomes, and proof points evolve. Bring an entrepreneurial lens to prospecting: apply the kind of hustle, creativity, and resourcefulness common in early-stage startup fundraising to a philanthropic context. Track and analyze pipeline health, funder trends, and outcomes to continuously sharpen strategy. Manage Donor and Prospect Relationships (30%) Lead a small portfolio of existing warm prospects and new 6- and 7-figure funding relationships, managing the full cycle from first outreach through solicitation, close, and stewardship – with a goal of advancing $10M in deals to proposal stage (or later) in your first year, with support from the broader Development Team. Write clear, engaging correspondence that connects Meritus College's data and mission to what funders care about. Represent Meritus College in funder meetings and presentations, including opportunities to bring in founders/academic leadership for key relationships. Ensure funders are stewarded and renewed thoughtfully to build long-term trust in a startup college reimagining higher education from the inside out. Build the Function (20%) Partner with Meritus College's academic, data, and operations teams to gather the proof points and impact data funders will want to see. In collaboration with Meritus College leadership, build the advancement function - bringing your expertise and perspectives on how a startup-minded fundraising function should look different from a traditional university advancement office. What Makes a Successful Candidate We recognize that people from underrepresented backgrounds are often less likely to apply unless they meet every qualification. Don't let that be the reason you miss out — we encourage you to apply if you demonstrate many, not all, of the following: Must Haves Experience Building New Programs in Higher Education Experience as the fundraising lead, or the close partner to the fundraising lead, on something a college or university was building for the first time: a new degree program, school, campus, institute, accredited entity, or a nonprofit incubated inside an institution. Working knowledge of accreditation, credit portability and transfer, academic model design, and the diligence institutional funders run on a new or newly accredited program. Track record of raising money or building partnerships, or of supporting the person or team who did. Familiar with what it takes to build a case for support while the proof points are still accumulating. Note: we're open to candidates wh

Applied AI Engineer, Beneficial Deployments (Life Sciences)

Full-time Onsite · San Francisco, CA | New York City Comp TBD

We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About Beneficial Deployments Beneficial Deployments ensures AI reaches and benefits the communities that need it most. We partner with nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations to deploy Claude in education, global health, economic mobility, and life sciences — focusing on raising the floor for those who need it most. About the Role We're looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join our Beneficial Deployments team, focused on maximizing the impact of Claude in the life sciences. Our goal is ambitious: accelerate scientific progress from R&D through translation by an order of magnitude. That means making Claude the go-to tool for the life sciences ecosystem from early discovery in academia to paradigm shifting biotech to reimaging pharma pipelines — and building the technical infrastructure to back that up. You'll work directly with flagship research partners like The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and The Allen Institute, embedded in their scientific workflows. This isn't consulting from the outside — you'll be building alongside their engineers, prototyping agents that fit into real research pipelines, and developing the ecosystem-level tooling (MCP servers, benchmarks, reusable agent skills) that extends Claude's usefulness across the broader life sciences community. This role will be part of the founding Beneficial Deployments Applied AI team focused on bringing life sciences closer to the frontier. Responsibilities Partner deeply with flagship life sciences research institutions — understand their scientific workflows end-to-end, build hands-on with their engineering teams, and help take projects from early exploration to production systems integrated into how they do science day-to-day. Develop reusable ecosystem infrastructure, like MCP servers for domain-specific data sources (genomics platforms, literature databases, experimental repositories), instruments, scientifically-grounded benchmarks, and agent skills that other institutions can adopt without starting from scratch. Identify what's actually hard about deploying AI in life sciences (heterogeneous data, auditability requirements, the prototype-to-trust gap) and feed those findings back to product, engineering, and research. Create technical content and documentation that lets partners self-serve, so what works for one institution can scale globally without the same level of hand-holding. You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have: Deep research experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing. Bonus if you've studied genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery specifically and are comfortable getting deeply technical with academics. Experience building LLM-powered tools or applications: prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks. Builder credibility from shipping production code as a software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or technical founder. A scrappy mentality–comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and doing whatever it takes to further the mission. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $280,000 — $320,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Director, Product Design

Full-time Remote Comp TBD

Company Description Givebutter is the most-loved nonprofit fundraising and CRM platform, empowering millions of changemakers to raise more, pay less, and give better. Nonprofits use Givebutter to replace multiple tools so they can launch fundraisers and events, use donation forms and donor management (CRM), send emails and text blasts—all in one place. Use of the Givebutter platform is completely free with a 100% transparent tip-or-fee model. Givebutter has been certified as a Great Place to Work® every year since 2021, and is the #1 rated nonprofit software company on G2 across multiple categories. Our mission is to empower the changemaker in all of us. We believe giving should be fun, so you’ll want to do it again, and we also believe that work should be fun, so that you’ll have the greatest impact. We are excited to hear from talented people who want to work with other talented people in making the world a butter place—and have fun along the way. Role Description Givebutter is a joyful brand with a serious mission, helping changemakers raise over US$ 10 billion so far. Over 84,000 nonprofits trust us for their core operations — fundraising, donor management, finances — and we're investing in world-class design to empower the next generation of changemakers. Design at Givebutter looks different than it did a few years ago. While the role and goals of design have not changed, the craft of designing great experiences is being rewritten in real time. Part of this role is defining what great product design looks like in an AI-native company: which problems AI owns, where human judgment still wins, and how a team works when the tools and workflows shift often. You'll manage a growing team of product designers across product pods, partnering closely with the VP of Design to set direction, remove roadblocks, and raise the quality and velocity of design across the platform. If you're energized by building teams, shaping design culture, and figuring out what design becomes in this next era, we want to hear from you. We want to hear from people who… Are experienced people managers who know how to nurture great design talent, give meaningful feedback, and build a high-performing team. Think strategically about design — not just what to build, but how design creates business value and drives positive outcomes for our users. Are natural collaborators who build alignment across Product, Engineering, Brand, and executive leadership. Hold a strong point of view on craft and quality, and know how to keep the bar high without becoming a bottleneck. Thrive in high-growth environments where the org is still evolving, and autonomy is the norm. Are not afraid to get hands-on when needed, and actively explore AI tools and coding agents to improve their craft. Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of product designers across multiple product pods, including direct ownership of hiring, performance, and career growth. Partner with the VP of Design on design strategy, org design, and how the design function scales over time. Create the conditions for designers to do their best work: align stakeholders, manage cross-functional dependencies, and drive clarity into ambiguous projects. Set and hold the craft bar across the platform — interaction patterns, visual execution, design system standards, and long-term product quality — keeping it consistent as the team and surface areas grow. Help define how product design operates at Givebutter, establishing how the team designs with AI tools and for AI-driven product experiences. Act as a strategic design partner to senior Product and Engineering leaders, shaping cross-functional decisions and aligning teams around shared outcomes. Influence product strategy through deep insight into our users (fundraisers and donors), turning ambiguous cross-product problems into clear direction for the team. Make high-stakes design decisions that balance craft, speed, and business impact, with a company-level ownership mindset. Help evolve Givebutter's design culture as the team grows, establishing practices, norms, and rituals that scale. Requirements 8+ years of product design experience, with 3–5 years managing other designers Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership across complex, multi-surface product environments with clear impact on users and business outcomes. Proven ability to develop designers at different career stages and build team culture intentionally. Deep craft sensibility. You can define what "great" looks like across interaction design, visual design, and design systems, and hold that bar across a team. Experience working closely with Product and Engineering leadership as a strategic partner, influencing roadmap and product direction through design. Strong judgment on prioritization. You know when to go deep, when to delegate, and how to focus a team on the highest-impact work. Excellent communication. You can tell a clear story to an exec audience and give a junior designer actionable feedback the same day. Comfortable operating in a high-growth, ambiguous environment where priorities evolve and speed matters. Genuine fluency with how AI is reshaping design, both the craft of designing AI-driven experiences and the way designers work day to day. SaaS or B2B product experience required; nonprofit or social impact experience is a plus. Experience designing AI-native, automation, or agentic product experiences is a strong plus..
